Poiana Brasov

Poiana Brasov is a resort for winter sports in Romania as a tourist attraction of international fame, and a neighborhood of the city of Brasov. It has 12 ski runs of varying degrees of difficulty, sports grounds, a lake, discos, bars and restaurants. Accommodation is provided in luxury hotels, hostels, villas or cottages. Also, in Poiana is an ambulance station and a police and a post office.

The resort is situated at the foot Postavarului at an altitude of 1030 m and the highest peak of the mountain at an altitude of 1799 m, which means a difference of altitude of about 800 m.

The resort is also recommended for the treatment of asthenic neurosis, for states of exhaustion and overworking physically and intellectually, anemia secondary to endocrine diseases and for respiratory diseases. Often in winter the temperature reaches -15 degrees Celsius.

History

Poiana was in ancient times hiking destination and the practice of winter sports. First documentary location dates from 1427, in the context of activities shepherd what took place here.
